HEAL Project Student Returns to the Outdoor Classroom for Summer Internship

Local high school student Aila G is a HEAL Project alumnus

Our summer intern Aila fondly recalls her second and third-grade years at Hatch Elementary School, where she attended classes with The HEAL Project. Engaging in agricultural activities and learning new recipes under Teacher Kali's guidance, she developed an appreciation for the outdoor classroom. A highlight of her time was recording a fundraiser segment for local coastside radio station KHMB. Aila's internship at The HEAL Project this summer has strengthened her experience in outdoor education.

“While it’s several years away, after college I would like to pursue a career where I work with a variety of people, possibly in education, and continue my passion for nature and the Coastside,” said Aila. “Most of all The HEAL Project has inspired me to be more aware of our environment, especially the need to take care of it, and inform others to do the same.”

Thank you, Aila. That's exactly what The HEAL Project is all about.

In her summer internship with The HEAL Project, incoming Half Moon Bay High sophomore student Aila put her social media and technology skills to work with a short video about New Leaf Community Market’s Envirotokens program.
